ARCHITECTURE + PROPERTY MARKETING PHOTOGRAPHY
FOR COMMERCIAL PROPERTY CLIENT CEG
A GREAT COMMISSION FROM CEG THAT ENCOURAGED A CREATIVE RESPONSE. USE STILLS AND VIDEO TO CAPTURE ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHY + INTERIORS AND LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY TO REALLY SHOWCASE UNIQUE PERSONALITY AND IMPACT OF THE EQ BUILDING IN BRISTOL.
THE BRIEF
CEG provided a great open brief, focusing on capturing the essence and profile of the EQ building through exterior, interior and lifestyle photography. I would need to work around corporate events that would be taking place in the building that they wanted me to incorporate into the photography. They wanted to show the spaces alive and the brief encouraged creativity and variety.
PROCESS
To authentically capture the full essence of the EQ building, a two-day shoot was planned, spanning early morning, daytime and after dark – to really showcase the building's presence. I decided to use some drone photography to open up different angles for the exterior photography. After assessing the building's orientation and monitoring the weather, drone shots were scheduled for sunset and sunrise.
The interior photography focused on showcasing the spaces being actively used, including capturing social events. The shoot also highlighted key building amenities such as the interior cycle path, reception area, coffee shop and atrium. This is essential for good commercial property photography and commercial interiors photography. As a property marketing photographer I know that showing the lifestyle of a building is as important as showing its structure.
RESPONSE
CEG had identified previous challenges in capturing the building's vitality in their exterior photography so I leaned into the playful and adaptable approach that was outlined in the brief. Photography was conducted at various times of day, utilising diverse lighting and angles. A departure from traditional architectural photography was embraced, focusing on capturing architectural details and using unfolding events as a dynamic foreground element to convey the building's personality. This helped to provide the client with engaging property marketing material.
